2013 Miss Rodeo Tehachapi Queens
It is never too early to think about running for Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Queen. We would like to welcome Amanda Kissack as our 2013 Miss Rodeo Tehachapi Queen coordinator. Amanda has put together a great committee to help her this year, including Sharon Buy, Lindsay Kaiser, Angela Nousch, Ann Ward, and Megan Doherty. They are currently working hard to update all forms and dates for this year's Miss Rodeo Tehachapi Queen Pageant. The Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association would like to invite all prospective contestants to attend our first TMRA event of the year - our Kick Off Dinner & Dance on June 1st. Contestants will receive a free dinner ticket and family members are invited to purchase dinner tickets and join us as well. This is a great event to meet our TMRA family and for us to become acquainted with prospective contestants.
The Rodeo Queen Pageant is held annually in conjunction with the Tehachapi Mountain PRCA Rodeo, which is held the third weekend in August every year in conjunction with the Tehachapi Mountain Festival. There are four age divisions: 4-8, 9-12, 13-17 and 18-24. Contestants compete for the coveted crowns of Miss Rodeo Tehachapi, Jr. Miss Rodeo Tehachapi, Little Miss Rodeo Tehachapi, and Little Princess Rodeo Tehachapi by competing in horsemanship, public speaking, rodeo knowledge, and poise & personality. The winners of the Miss, Jr. Miss and Little Miss Rodeo Tehachapi divisions will receive a trophy saddle, crown, sash and belt buckle. The winner of the Little Princess division will win a buckle, crown, and sash. The winner of the Miss Rodeo Tehachapi division will go on to represent the Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association at the state level by running for Miss Rodeo California. There is also an award for horsemanship, poise & personality, speech, most photogenic, congeniality, & high ticket sales. All Rodeo Queen Contestants will appear at many Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association and Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce functions during the pageant. They will also have the opportunity to be in attendance at the Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association Kickoff Dinner and the Poker Ride, both are held at the Loop Ranch in June, and will be introduced during the TMRA Bad Bulls Tour on the 4th of July.
The Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Queen Pageant offers young women the opportunity to receive one of the richest experiences of their lives, while at the same time creating solid foundations for their future endeavors. Lifelong friendships are made and many doors are opened to the competitors. In addition, the young lady selected to wear the coveted crown becomes a part of a great legacy and part of history - yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
For more than 30 years, Miss Rodeo Tehachapi has promoted and represented the great sport of professional rodeo as well as the western way of life.
